Electric Vehicle Maintenance: Battery Care
While electric vehicles often cost less to maintain overall, replacing key components like electric motors and battery packs can be expensive. Fortunately, Ford EVs are built with longevity in mind, and your vehicle comes backed by generous manufacturer warranty coverage to protect against costly repairs.
To maximize the life of your EV battery and avoid unnecessary replacements, keep these tips in mind:
-
Avoid extreme temperatures
Excessive heat or cold can impact battery performance. Ford designs EVs with thermal management systems, but it’s still best to limit exposure when possible.
-
Don’t fully charge or drain your battery
Regularly charging to 100% or draining to 0% can cause gradual degradation. Ford EVs include built-in limiters to help prevent this, but keeping your charge level between 20–80% is ideal.
-
Use fast chargers sparingly
While convenient, DC fast charging can accelerate battery wear compared to slower Level 2 home or public charging. Rely on Level 2 whenever possible for everyday charging.
We’re committed to keeping your electric Ford running at peak efficiency so you can enjoy smooth, eco-friendly driving for years to come.
